10 has confirmed 5 new projects for its second Pilot Week programming stunt, featuring Comedies, Reality TV and Documentaries with names including Casey Donovan, Heidi Arena, Patrick Abboud, Nicola Parry and publicist Roxy Jacenko.

Production companies involved include CJZ, Matchbox Pictures, Screentime, Eureka Productions and Two Basic Scoops Media.

Viewers will again be asked for feedback on the projects in the hope that some may lead to full seasons.

Network 10 Chief Content Officer, Beverley McGarvey, said: “We were so thrilled with the quality and creativity we achieved with our partners in the production community for Pilot Week last year. We can’t wait to see how this year’s projects deliver.

“It is clear that more domestic content is what our audiences really crave, and we are working hard to ensure we can provide an innovative and diverse slate of local shows.”

A date for Pilot Week 2019 is yet to be announced.

  1. Gee, this looks like a bunch of stuff that Foxtel rejected. The problem with Roxy is that no one really seems to warm to the girl, so why would we watch her orchestrated trevails and instagrammed life with doting ex jailbird bubby in tow ?
If this is the best Ten can come up with then I’m uninspired.

  2. These are all low risk projects even if they did only air fire a few weeks and failed. Pilots are meant to assess risk of production investment after the concept had been approved. Generally low risk (that is, low budget) projects don’t get pilots. Another user of pilots is to test a show and make tweaks. Sometimes these are released, sometimes not. For example, The Big Bang Theory had a pilot (which is available if you know where to look). It had a smaller group of friends, and Penny was a different actor and called Katie, who came over as too intelligent. They made significant changes and success was the result!

Pilots are good for this, not ultra low budget shows that are made to meet Australian content requirements.

  3. Apart from the scripted one, the rest sound either boring, derivative, and in the case of the Roxy one, just plain revolting. An uninspiring collection to be sure, but based on the commissions from last year at least we know no matter what happens during pilot week, we won’t have to hear from these shows again!

  4. I seriously think 10 should be looking at 10 News First at 10:30 pm followed by James Corden nightly – use that CBS talent more!! Enough Reality
Also a national 10 News First bulletin at 6 pm with Hamish McDonald

    1. I may give 1 and 4 a go. I rather watch A Current Affair than 2 or 3 (and yes, I know ACA airs on Nine, but is marginally better than 2 and 3).

    1. Kinne Tonight (one of the pilots from last year’s Pilot Week) is on at 9:45pm tonight. I heard a few got picked up, but don’t know when they will go to air.

      1. Apart from Kinne Tonight which started tonight, I believe Trial by Kyle & Rove’s Saturday Night show are coming later in the year. There’s also a limited run of Taboo coming soon (I think 3 episodes).
