Returning: Compass

Compass returns with a special episode looking at what it’s like for politicians who leave parliament.

Compass returns with a special episode Compass: After Politics, looking at what it’s like for politicians who leave parliament.

Having spent years serving the country in Canberra, what’s it like when it all comes to an end?

Host Kumi Taguchi will meet with three former high-profile politicians and one who’s just about to retire: former leader of the Democrats, Natasha Stott Despoja; former leader of the ACTU and Labor government minister, Greg Combet; former Leader of the Liberal Party, Brendan Nelson; and retiring independent member for Indi, Cathy McGowan.

Freed from the shackles of party whips and talking points, they’ll tell us what it was really like working as a politician, why they left when they did and how they’ve found a fulfilling and meaningful life, post politics.

6pm Sunday on ABC.
