Returning: Fleabag

Season 2 screens next week on Amazon Prime, but is probably the finale.

The second (and in all likelihood, final) season of Fleabag begins on Amazon Prime next week.

Sian Clifford, who plays Claire, the sister of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s lead character, recently said the final episode completes the story.

This aired in the UK in March.

Written by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Joyful, bleak, poignant, and sucker-punch funny, the original cast is joined by a car-crash of new characters as we delve further into the world of Fleabag. With hope and faith at the core of season two, our heroine finds herself in the midst of a battle she is determined to win: Fleabag vs God.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is also creator of Killing Eve.

Friday May 17 on Amazon Prime.

  1. Amazon took their time.

The last series – whether it’s another UK comedy thinking 12 eps was enough for Fawlty Towers so they’ll stop now, or whether she’s genuinely so in demand it’s not possible for her to do more I don’t know. It feels about right to end it now though. A commenter elsewhere stated Phoebe Waller-Bridge had become a national treasure far quicker than most and to an extent that’s true – after this and Killing Eve shes a writer who you’ll look out for when it comes to her future projects.

  2. Binged this recently while I was in the UK. It’s as you would expect – brilliantly savage. A couple of the storylines are underplayed but not unresolved. That said, it would be possible to reprise the series on the basis of that ending. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’d like to see its return.
