Rumours gathering on Footy Show

Nine denies it will cull struggling show before tomorrow, but how long will it persist on these numbers?

Industry chatter is rounding on how long Nine’s Footy Show about can last, following dreadful ratings, but Nine is keeping its cards close to its chest.

Tomorrow’s show is proceeding internally as planned despite speculation from the Herald Sun the network would call it quits before it airs.

As reported by TV Tonight, even Footy Classified outrates the revamped Footy Show, both produced by Eddie McGuire’s Jam TV. Seven’s Front Bar dominated last week, 427,000 to The Footy Show‘s meagre 97,000 (both 5 city metro).

While Nine has backed the Today show for the long haul, it isn’t making the same noises about the Footy Show anymore.

Although the network understandably wants to avoid ongoing commentary on numbers, Nine sources refer to the last public statement made in April: “We are excited by the feedback we have from players and those inside the game on the show and we are committed to this outstanding line up of hosts. The Footy Show is an important and valued part of our schedule and we know as the audience sample it, they will stick with it.”

The show airs at 8:30pm Thursday on Nine in Melbourne / Adelaide / Perth.

  1. If Nine cull The Footy Sow, they’d be able to use the slot to catch-up on The Big Bang Theory so the finale airs … hang on it’s Nine … they’ll likely air Big Bang Theory repeats in it’s place.

  2. Probably only room for 1 footy show on a Thursday night. Front Bar looks like it. Nine now need to innovate and do something different now.

      1. With few people watching, do you think theres a chance if I call up nine adverts I can advertise my bike I was to sell? I’ll do my ad myself – and thinking it might be cheap…

  3. This is it – last show I say. Can’t possibly allow major shows above the 1mil so far this year to have crashing lows on Thursday night.
