SBS on Demand: Fortitude, An Ordinary Woman.

Season 3 is now available, and next week a Russian drama debuts.

Season 3 of UK drama Fortitude returned to SBS On Demand yesterday. All three seasons are now available to stream.

Genre-busting Arctic epic series Fortitude is set in one of the safest towns on Earth, in the savage landscape of Norway’s far north. There has never been a violent crime. Until now. A string of violent and increasingly strange deaths slowly exact a toll on the quiet international community where almost everyone appears to be keeping at least one secret.

Fortitude features an all-star cast, including Richard Dormer (Game of Thrones), Sofie Gråbøl (The Killing), Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games), Dennis Quaid (The Day After Tomorrow), and Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones).

Russian drama An Ordinary Woman has its premiere at SBS On Demand next Thursday May 9.

All nine episodes will be available to stream.

Marina is an ordinary woman, living in Moscow, but behind the façade of her perfect family life lurk many dark secrets. She owns a flower shop, but her income really comes from running a clandestine WhatsApp network of prostitutes. An Ordinary Woman is the riveting story of how Marina copes as her carefully constructed house of cards begins to collapse around her. Anna Mikhalkova leads an exceptional cast of strong female characters in this taught, multi-layered series with a performance that won her the ‘Best Actress’ award at Series Mania 2018.

  1. I liked the few episodes of S1 of Fortitude I saw before I lost track and forgot to go back and re-view it [IIRC S1 aired on Aunty]. Might be just the excuse I need to go back. I think I heard about there being a S2, but I gotta say S3 is a surprise — but if it’s a fan service S3, I can get behind that.

  2. ‘Fortitude’ certainly has an excellent selection of actors in the main roles including much to my surprise Dennis Quade who I believe is a mate of Richard Dormer, this final season of Fortitude does a good representation of Nordic (horror) noir though most of the fear factor was handled much better in season one when viewers were kept in suspense wondering about what to expect next, season 3 is just a wrap up of the unfinished parts of this tale for the fans.
