Seven hunt for chief operating officer

Seven wants to beef up its digital strategy with a top exec hire.

Seven West Media is reportedly on a “discreet” hunt for a new chief operating officer to join its executive team.

The Sydney Morning Herald claims Seven wants to grow audiences on 7plus, and news websites like 7news.com.au, as the media landscape continues to see change -notably with Nine acquiring Fairfax mastheads.

A Seven source disputed there was any suggestion CEO Tim Worner would leave the company but agreed a potential new hire could feature in any succession planning.

Former chief digital officer Clive Dickens left in March to become vice president of television, content and product development at Singtel Optus, with Darren Kerry appointed Director of Digital Product and Technology.

Seven also recently announced Therese Hegarty as chief executive of Seven Studios.

Seven declined to comment.
