Alcohol is the most widely used and most commonly treated drug in Australia. The average Australian over the age of 15 drinks about 9.5L of pure alcohol every year – that’s 224 stubbies of beer, 38 bottles of wine, 17 bottles of cider, four bottles of spirits and 33 cans of premixed drink (source ABS).
