Airdate: Lambs of God

Check out the ripping trailer for Foxtel's next local drama.

Foxtel has now released the full trailer for Lambs of God -and it’s a ripper, with exterior footage shot in Tasmania.

The four part series from Lingo Pictures features Essie Davis, Ann Dowd, Jessica Barden and Sam Reid. Also featuring are Kate Mulvany, Daniel Henshall, Damon Herriman, John Bell and Sigrid Thornton.

This recently screened at Series Mania in France where one reviewer described it as ‘the best series of the official competition’.

Essie Davis described it as “a great romantic work of art”. Ann Dowd said “I’ll never forget it for as long as I live. It was quite an extraordinary experience,” while Sam Reid said, “it’s complicated and interesting and I’m very proud to be in it”.

This will premiere with a double episode in late July across two weeks.

Lambs of God is the epic and fantastical tale of faith, love and redemption. Three nuns, each a generation apart, are living in seclusion on an isolated island. Forgotten by the rest of the world, the nuns live a harmonious life inside a dilapidated monastery, where they work, pray and knit while telling each other fairy tales, until one day an ambitious young priest, Father Ignatius, discovers the three Sisters when he arrives on a mission from the Church.

Based on the best-selling Australian novel by Marele Day, Lambs of God is brought to life on screen by an international all-star cast, including Emmy Award winning actress Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale, The Leftovers), Australia’s much loved stage and screen star Essie Davis (Game of Thrones, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, The Babadook, The Slap), UK actress Jessica Barden (The End of the F*****World, The Lobster), Australian actor Sam Reid (The Railway Main, Belle, Anonymous). Along with Kate Mulvany, Daniel Henshall, Damon Herriman, John Bell and Sigrid Thornton.

Lambs of God is beautifully adapted for the screen by writer Sarah Lambert (Love Child, A Place to Call Home, Love My Way), and directed by Jeffrey Walker (Modern Family, Ali’s Wedding, Rake, Jack Irish). Cinematographer and Academy Award-nominee Don McAlpine (The Dressmaker, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Moulin Rouge, Romeo and Juliet), has made his first foray into television drama as Director of Photography.

Executive Producers are Penny Win from Foxtel and Helen Bowden from Lingo Pictures. Lambs of God was produced by Jason Stephens (Lingo Pictures) and Sarah Lambert in association with Endemol Shine Australia. Lambs of God received production investment funding from Screen Australia in association with Create NSW and Screen Tasmania. The series will be distributed internationally by Sky Vision.

Double episode premiere Sunday, July 21 at 8.30pm on FOX Showcase.
Episode 3 and 4 combined will screen on Sunday July 28.

No chance of Fox showing that movie. Really, how many eyes read the press releases before they are published?
