Big Brother house destroyed

Fans hopes for a reality revival have gone up in smoke.

The former Big Brother house was destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon.

The site adjacent to Dreamworld was engulfed in flames around 2:15pm, with fire crews containing the blaze but unable to save it.

Police questioned 6 children aged 9 – 15, charging 4 aged 11 – 15 with arson, to be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

Big Brother fans took to social media to lament the loss of the house, which featured on TV from 2001 – 2008 on 10 and 2012 – 2014. Diehard fans had hoped for a revival but that now seems a fantasy.

But it was already a fantasy after 10 execs rejected a reboot for summer based on the costs, and the house already trashed by vandals.

Recent YouTube exposure on the dilapidated house went viral and led to further trespassing.

Former BB announcer Mike Goldman had planned a celebrity sleep-out on the site this Friday to aid the homeless, but will relocate to Broadbeach Public School.
