Man pleads guilty after fake TV show

A man who claimed to be making a program called "Your Tassie" dishonestly acquired $5,000 from a Tasmanian woman.

A man who claimed to be making a program called “Your Tassie” for Channel Seven has pleaded guilty to dishonestly acquiring $5,000 from a Tasmanian woman.

The Magistrates Court in Launceston heard Kane Scott Dallow convinced the woman to buy a sponsorship package, sending her receipts he had created that purported to be from Seven, as well as emails that looked like they belonged to Seven employees.

ABC reported the court heard Dallow had prior convictions for dishonesty offences in South Australia and Victoria starting in 1994 and had served suspended and terms of imprisonment in 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2015.

Prosecutor Felicity Radin said there were two outstanding warrants for Dallow in South Australia for failing to appear in court, including one for allegations he defrauded a woman of $5,000 after convincing her to invest in a media production company.

Dallow was ordered to return to court in July.
