Nine sets date for Big Bang Theory finale

Big Bang finally wraps, and Young Sheldon returns to Nine.

Nine has confirmed a date for the last-ever episode of The Big Bang Theory.

It will screen, as predicted, on Wednesday July 3rd.

The double-episode finale will air at 7:30pm, “The Change Constant / Stockholm Syndrome.”

In the last episode ever, Sheldon and Amy await big news; Penny and Leonard try to keep a big secret; Bernadette and Wolowitz leave their kids for the first time, and after 12 years of laughter and tears the gang travel into an uncharted future.

It will be followed by the return of Young Sheldon at 8:30pm with  S2E18 “A Perfect Score and a Bunsen Burner Marshmallow” (NB: a second episode will also air).

Sheldon moves in with Dr. Sturgis for the weekend to see what his life will be like in college; a lonely Mary tries to bond with the other Coopers during Sheldon’s absence.

At 9:30pm is the Big Bang special Unravelling the Mystery-A Big Bang Farewell.

In this special, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco will lead fans on a trip down memory lane, sharing some of the best-kept backstage secrets and personal memories from the past 12 years.

Fans can also reminisce with a replay of Big Bang‘s pilot episode, the night before Tuesday July 2, following The Voice.

Brilliant physicist roommates Leonard and Sheldon meet their new neighbour Penny, who begins showing them that as much as they know about science, they know little about actual living.

  1. Too little. too late, channel 9 could of done the right thing and fasttracked the final season, and aired the finale etc at about the same time as US airing, but alas, decided to not. Fans of the show would of already watched it, or are doing what I am doing and waiting for the dvd release(which I believe will be in November- when it comes out in the US as well).

    1. I’ll be watching on the 3rd of July and the Overnights will show that I will not be alone. Nine have been getting approx. 600k/400k for new/recent rpt. and the finale will do a lot better than that.

    2. Well that makes no sense – because Channel 9 waited a few weeks you instead will wait a few more months to watch it on DVD.

That said whilst usually I don’t think a few weeks does any harm if it fits the broadcasters schedule this does feel very much after the event, even if it’s only a month since the show wrapped up in the States.

  2. The Unravelling the Mystery-A Big Bang Farewell show is a good little 30 minutes, worth a look for anyone who is a fan of the big bang theory.
