Netflix has ordered a comedy featuring a talking dog.
The Healing Powers of Dude is a single-camera comedy which centres on Noah, an 11-year-old boy with social anxiety disorde. When has to start middle school, he turns to a mutt named Dude, a sarcastic emotional support dog who might need Noah as much as Noah needs him.
The 8 part series is from creators Erica Spates and Sam Littenberg-Weisberg (Victorious, Coop and Cami Ask the World) and based on personal experiences with social anxiety.
It stars Tom Everett Scott (13 Reasons Why), Larisa Oleynik (Mad Men, Trinkets), Laurel Emory, Mauricio Mara, Sophie Jaewon Kim and newcomer Jace Chapman, along with Dude the dog.
In 1994 Nine screened a sitcom The Bob Morrison Show featuring Andy Anderson, Nikki Coghill, Matt Day and Stig Wemyss as the voice of Bob.
