Oprah interviews Central Park 5

Oprah speaks to the men who inspired the true life drama, When They See Us.

Oprah Winfrey will interview the Central Park Five, now referred to as the Exonerated Five, and director of When They See Us, Ava DuVernay, in an upcoming special.

This will screen on Netflix from tomorrow, June 12.

When They See Us, Ava DuVernay’s four-part series, shed new light on a court case that dominated headlines 30 years ago—and introduced the disturbing story to those too young to remember. Known then as the Central Park Five, five Black and Latino teenage boys were falsely accused of a jogger’s 1989 rape, and their convictions weren’t vacated until 2002.

Oprah Winfrey Presents When They See Us Now will feature a conversation with Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise, the now-adult men that DuVernay calls the Exonerated Five.

The other half of the special will be a chat with producers and cast members from the Netflix series, including Niecy Nash, Michael K. Williams, Joshua FaJackson, Asante Blackk, Caleel Harris, Ethan Herisse, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Freddy Miyares and Justin Cunningham, as well as executive producers Jane Rosenthal and Berry Welsh.

Wednesday June 12 on Netflix.
