Veteran broadcaster Philip Brady celebrated his 80th birthday yesterday at an event in Kew, joined by Melbourne personalities Peter Hitchener, Pete Smith, John Blackman, Marty Fields, journalists Peter Ford, Fiona Byrne and more.
Brady began working at Nine as a booth announcer on Easter Monday 1958, where he remained until 1971, predominantly as part of In Melbourne Tonight.
He also hosted Concentration, Everybody’s Talking, Moneymakers, Junior Moneymakers, Casino Ten, Get the Message and Password for Nine and 10.
Following his radio years at 3AK and 3AW, he returned to AW in March 1991 with longtime on-air partner Bruce Mansfield and returned to TV on Good Morning Australia in a cooking segment before regular Milestones & Tombstones nostalgie appearances.
Last year he was honoured with an Order of Australia.
Brady currently co-hosts late night chat show Nightline on 3AW with Simon Owens.
