SBS on Demand: Moscow Noir

Swedish / Russian thriller begins in early July.

Swedish / Russian thriller Moscow Noir will have its premiere through SBS on Demand in early July.

All eight episodes will be available, in Swedish, Russian, and English with subtitles.

An innocent trade plunges Swedish investment banker Tom Blixen (Adam PaÌŠlsson) into a battle between millionaires, oligarchs, and their private armies. As enemies and killers reveal themselves like a series of Babushka dolls, Tom has to rely on his wits to survive, running from dangers he can’t even see, but also from something deeper – his past, whose skeletons are just beginning to stir.

A risky deal gone wrong drags him into a mystery that runs to the rotten core of society, with death – his own and that of his loved ones – just one step behind. As fact and fiction converge, and bodies and lies pile up, Tom finds himself surrounded by ghosts, both living and dead. But the most haunting ghost of all is within. Standing in the ruins of his old life, he is forced to finally face his demons.

A stylish, icily beautiful modern noir, Moscow Noir will follow Tom’s fall from the high life of a rich expat into the moral sewers of modern Moscow.

Thursday, 11 July on SBS On Demand.

  1. Moscow Noir, eh. If anyone wants some Moscow Noir then they should watch ‘An Ordinary Woman’ on SBS on Demand because it’s available now, it is a refreshingly different production that looks more European than most Russian made shows I have seen, it also has some dark Russian satire as well if you can get past the rather grim plot. As this show ended with unfinished business it would be good for the SBS to indicate its possible return, it’s not unusual for new seasons to appear almost unannounced.
