The Voice, Nine News top Sunday.

Ratings: Controversy pushes The Voice to top place, on a winning night for Nine.

Nine had a winning streak on Sunday leading across all key timeslots.

Controversy on The Voice helped it top the night and the demos at 1.09m viewers for its final Knockout, well in front of House Rules on 723,000 and MasterChef Australia‘s 605,000 from 7:30pm.

All were up on last Sunday which was a long weekend in several cities.

Nine Network won Sunday with 34.3% then Seven 28.4%, 10 15.7%, ABC 15.3% and SBS 6.3%.

Nine News won the news battle with 1.09m then 60 Minutes (669,000) and Suburban Gangsters (264,000)

Seven News was best for Seven at 1.08m. Sunday Night drew 540,000 and Code Blue: Murder (186,000).

The Project was 411,000 / 256,000 for 10 followed by 10 News First (266,000), FBI (224,000 / 140,000) and Bondi Rescue (190,000).

ABC News led for ABC at 677,000 then Shetland (512,000), Harrow (501,000), Delicious (182,000) and Compass (164,000). Earlier, Insiders with Annabel Crabb hosting drew 285,000 unsurprisingly down on Barrie Cassidy’s departure at 402,000.

On SBS it was The Rise of the Clans (163,000), Vitamania (138,000) and SBS World News (133,000).

The ICC Cricket World Cup topped multichannels at 201,000 and helped 9GEM to a 5.4% share.

  1. Is Bondi Rescue new episodes? Very strange they’re still showing it this late in the year, normally it has all wrapped up once MasterChef starts.

I thought Heston being on Masterchef might lift the numbers but the huge bright orange watermark advertising Celebrity Name Game in the corner was enough to put me off so probably did same for others. Are they so very desperate to get more numbers for Denyer’s show that flogging the ad for it in every break isn’t enough ? …grrrrr……

    1. “Watermark” is a transparent image. The graffiti we get on-screen now are simply graphics. Handy that we are actually able to watch WIN, where there were no graphics, since they don’t air Celebrity Name Game (in our area). It may be on some other channel. Haven’t looked and WIN does not promote it.

    2. Yes I agree with you. They are desperate for viewers and to be honest, I don’t think Name Game would last. All those pop up ads are so annoying.
