ABC confirms Think Tank not returning

Exclusive: 2018 Paul McDermott quiz is not returning.

EXCLUSIVE: In news that will surprise nobody, ABC has now confirmed it is not renewing 2018 quiz show, Think Tank.

The show produced by ITV Studio Australia was hosted by Paul McDermott and screened across the first half of 2018.

Despite the show building in numbers through 6pm repeats last year, ABC has since revamped the early evening timeslot.

An ABC spokesperson told TV Tonight,Think Tank was a fun take on the long tradition of TV quiz shows and the ABC is proud of its creative achievements and connection with audiences. We thank everyone involved in the production, especially host Paul McDermott and production company ITV Studios Australia.

“Audiences can continue to enjoy episodes of Think Tank on ABC TV every weekday at 4pm.”

Meanwhile ABC is yet to confirm the future for a number of other 2018 / 2017 shows including Pine Gap, Janet King, Superwog, Back in Time for Dinner, Jack Irish, Everyone’s a Critic, Ronny Chieng: International Student and whether there are more Spicks & Specks specials.

  1. Really hope Superwog is renewed.
    Loved it – hilarious !
Really enjoyed the pilot of Ronny Chieng : International Student but don’t think this carried over 100% successfully to the full length season. Still really funny in parts but doubt there will be another series.
Janet King and Jack Irish …can take them or leave them.
Pine Gap was just tediously dull – surely they aren’t considering inflicting more of the same on us.
Really hope to see a few more Spicks and Specks specials and another series of BITFD.
Never watched Think Tank but Paul is always entertaining -hope to see him back on our screens soon in something worthwhile.

  2. I’d be disappointed if there weren’t another Jack Irish. I’ve got a sneaking suspicion S&S will return at Xmas with a few more eps sprinkled through 2020. Janet King, while I’ve enjoyed it, it’s hard to see the path it will take should it go for another series. I thought the last season was OK.

    1. Not all of the dramas screen in consecutive years so still a possibility. I’ve now addressed each network with 2018 shows they were yet to clarify. Most of them did not give definitive answers, which is always their prerogative.

  3. I wouldn’t expect to see International Student returning. Now that Ronny Chieng is in New York for The Daily Show, he’s probably not interested in International Student again.
