Various specials, compilations and spin-offs have seen the light of day including The New Fred and Barney Show, The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show, The Flintstone Kids, Fred Flintstone and Friends, A Flintstone Family Christmas, The Flintstone Comedy Show.
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane was also planning one in 2011 which did not eventuate.

‘primetime comedy series’….real people?……meh…..even a computer generated cartoon does not impress me
Anyone been reading the EPG synopsis for Mad as Hell? This season is a twisted version of The Flintstones. Last week, an “associate” of Fred’s gets Barney a job in “waste management” and his (Barney’s) first job is to kill Fred.
Seriously, I hope this is good. Hopefully, those who are behind this can learn a thing or two from Mad as Hell.
Always a fun read.
Somethings shouldn’t be rebooted. A classic animation like this won’t work today. If you re-watch the old episodes it is not PC. the Wives are stay at home mums, The men go to work and earn the money.
There are issues now with episodes from the Simpsons that aired 30 years ago offending the new generation watching it, Imagine how show that is nearly 60 years old and aired during a very different time period will come across. I can’t see it working. Leave the classics alone.
Aren’t traditional stable families just the worst?
Seriously though, The Simpsons has had more or less the same family dynamic as The Flintstones since its inception. Marge has never held a job that ran longer than the course of a single episode in the last 30 years. Are people so deranged that the idea of a devoted and involved mother is offensive?
I don’t understand why people generally would find the classics offensive (certain irreverent moments notwithstanding), though I can see why certain regressive “progressives” may take exception to certain things from the series’ long history. Why do we keep indulging the noisy minority who wish to dictate our sensibilities?
its based on an original idea using characters from the Flintstones.
They could easily have Betty and Wilma as working mothers and other present day concepts set in the stone age.
Sounds interesting, perhaps they will base it on the DC Comics Flinstones that came out in 2016 as in these: dorkly.com/post/82072/wiiiiiillllmaaaaaa
from looking at that link, i hope they don’t! There are some things from my childhood that should remain sacred, Burton’s Charlie & the Chocolate Factory remake was bad enough!
I loved watching this show as a kid on Agro’s Cartoon Connection, let’s hope it’s as good as the original if it goes ahead.
Agro and Ann-Marie, they were the mornings I used to love getting up early for Along with The Flintstones and He-man and even Wacky Races, they were the good old days. I wonder if David could do a where are the now article or Friday Flashback. This and the Early Bird Show on Ten were my favourites as a kid
Smurfs, Ninja Turtles & Jetsons to name just a few!
sorry the good old days were earlier still. you had the 3rd or 4th good old days
