Love Island is Fiji-bound

Bula! Rule out Spain and Queensland for next Nine season.

Bula!

There has been speculation about its next love-nest, but TV Tonight understands Love Island‘s next season on Nine will be set in the tropics of Fiji.

Construction on a camera-ready villa and casting are currently underway, for the new season hosted by Sophie Monk.

Fiji is a TV-friendly destination, with producer incentives through Film Fiji, and home to recent shoots Bachelor in Paradise and Australian Survivor.

Love Island USA is also filmed in Fiji.

While Nine’s first season was filmed in Spain, the Pacific setting cuts back on costs and with a shorter travel time allows for quicker cast changes by the network.

The series will air on Nine’s primary channel this year, in a post 8:30pm timeslot to allow for racy content.

Nine declined to comment on the next destination.

  1. Hi David,

Do you know if the brilliant narrator from last season is back for this one again? He truly was the star of the show for the majority and honestly better than the UK guy! Thanks 🙂

  2. Good. If it were in Queensland it would just feel underdone if you ask me. Get everyone out of their comfort zones and into somewhere more interesting for the “players” and viewers alike for this.

  3. Fiji offers up to a staggering “47% tax rebate on selected film and tv deals” (source: variety, 2018).
However this is caped at to FJD$28 Million per project (this would have a maxamum rebate of FJD$13.3 Million). I would guess that Love Island (AU and US) would be less that that cap.
Plus they also proved reduced airfairs on Fiji Airways & help getting visa and other incentives for Cast and crew to get to Fiji.
