Marathon Wimbledon but Ninja, Cricket drive Nine win.

Ratings: Ninja Warrior leads early entertainment while Wimbledon stretches beyond 2am.


There was more sport and athleticism on show last night, with a marathon Wimbledon eventually won by Novak Djokovic, ICC Cricket World Cup, Tour de France and Australian Ninja Warrior.

Although Seven led in primary channel share the Cricket drew a huge 9.4% share on 9GEM -that’s more than 5 SBS channels combined.

Ninja Warrior won its slot and topped the demos with 899,000 viewers.

House Rules drew 732,000 then MasterChef Australia (605,000 from 7:30pm) and The Planets (490,000 from 7:40pm).

60 Minutes also won its slot at 571,000 then the season finale of Harrow (462,000 ) and Sunday Night (434,000).

With Wimbledon extending beyond 2am numbers are not yet finalised, but preliminary numbers are up to 403,000. The ICC Cricket World Cup was up to 361,000 and topped multichannels.

Despite Seven’s primary channel lead, Nine network won Sunday with 33.8% then Seven 29.6%, 10 16.0%, ABC 14.1% and SBS 6.5%.

Seven News was #1 with 1.12m for Seven. Manhunt was 373,000.

Nine News pulled 1.03m. Suburban Gangsters drew 261,000.

The Sunday Project was 431,000 / 234,000 for 10 then 10 News First (259,000), FBI (211,000 / 130,000),  Bondi Rescue (164,000)

ABC News (628,000), The Scribe (109,000), Compass (106,000) comprised ABC’s other shows.

On SBS it was Chasing the Moon (144,000), SBS World News (126,000) and Tour de France (105,000),

  1. I watched Tour de France …then switched over to the tennis…as I was reading news.com….and noticed their live reporting was still going…. I don’t know how either of them were standing….in fact Djokovic did go down near the end…but still won…Two amazing warriors.

  2. It was worth staying up for the cricket – it was the best one day game I have ever seen (even better than the 1999 world cup semi final). New Zealand must feel robbed though. And that Ben Stokes is actually a Kiwi by birth must be rubbing salt into their wounds.
