Ninja Warrior fans annoyed by editing of runs

“While you were away…”
Those words from Ninja Warrior hosts Rebecca Maddern and Ben Fordham have some viewers annoyed with some completed runs squeezed into montages.
Meanwhile some other runs, which fell short of completion, have been played in full, sometimes with backstories.
It isn’t the first year some contenders have seen their run edited down.
A Nine spokesperson told TV Tonight, “With so many Ninjas competing in the Grand Final, it was sadly impossible to show everyone’s full run due to time constraints.”

Why does this show even need on screen hosts, anyway? They could quite easily just do it as v/o and maybe have Freddie briefly interview them at the end of the run.
I don’t even watch it, but I keep coming back to this post for the attached picture ?
The “while you were away” type lines were incredibly annoying and patronising. But to skip showing us finalists runs but still include all the back story footage was infuriating!
“while you were away” is an odd thing to say. I believe the viewers hadn’t gone anywhere.
Back stories have been done to death. The health angle, death angle, depression angle, god just show the competitor competing
The Sasuke show (The original Ninja Warrior) is far superior- I wish SBS would show it again. Very minimal back stories, you are out if you don’t finish (none of this best times rubbish), and no over the top hosts. That is how the show should be…..
100%. Sasuke is great.
Its all so true. We get they do backstories during the heats but we dont need the backstories again in the finals. Show all the finalists or at least top 10 get on with it!
100% agree. Love the show, but on delay, so i can skip the ads and repeated backstories, particularly for ninjas 3 years running. There’s less backstories than previous years i feel but still too much taking away from other ninjas airtime.
I’ve come down with a severe case of Back Story fatigue. I just can’t take anymore…

Err….no Ninja Warrior we know that the show is not live. Stop treating us like we’re stupid. If it was live then we could stomach those words. It’s pre-recorded for crying out loud!
