OITNB, Stranger Things top Netflix favourites

The survey says these are the "favourite" shows according to Netflix subscribers.

Outgoing prison drama Orange Is the New Black is the most favourite show of US Netflix subscribers according to a new study, with Stranger Things at No. 2.

The generic term “Movies” ranked third.

15 of the top 20 shows were Netflix originals, including Ozark, Grace and Frankie, Black Mirror, the newly-original Lucifer and The Crown.

But reruns of licensed titles The Office and Friends remain popular, followed by Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, Criminal Minds and Shameless.

But while the MoffettNathanson-commissioned survey asked which shows were viewers’ favourites, that’s different than actual time spent viewing.

The survey also found:

  • 14% of Netflix users tap into an account paid for by someone outside of their household, compared with 11% of Hulu users and 6% of Amazon Prime Video users.
  • 77% of Netflix users 76% of Hulu customers watch either daily or a few times a week, while 60% of Amazon Prime Video users said the same.

  1. Interesting to read that TDG research has been encouraging the speculation of Netflix looking at a lower priced tier supported by advertising. Netflix rejects this speculation but with a negative reaction to recent price rises and other new SVOD services not far away in the USA, which is Netflix’s main market, those pushy advertising gurus wont let an opportunity pass them by.
