Returning: The Affair

The fifth and final season begins in early September.

The fifth and final season of The Affair is now confirmed for early September.

This season features Dominic West, Maura Tierney and Sanaa Lathan, plus guest stars, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Aussie Emily Browning. Absent this season are Ruth Wilson and Joshua Jackson.

This will air 6 days after the US return.

Starring Golden Globe nominee Dominic West, Golden Globe winner Maura Tierney, and Sanaa Lathan, the series explores the emotional and psychological effects of an affair that destroyed two marriages, and the crime that brings these individuals back together.

The 11 x 60-minute drama also welcomes Academy Award winner Anna Paquin to the final season as a series regular, playing the role of Alison and Cole’s now adult daughter, who returns several years later to try to piece together the story of her mother.

The finale season will also feature a stellar line-up of guest stars, including Jennifer Jason Leigh (Patrick Melrose) and Australian actor Emily Browning (American Gods).

The Affair was created by playwright, writer, executive producer and showrunner Sarah Treem (House of Cards, In Treatment); executive produced by Jessica Rhoades (Sharp Objects), Hagai Levi (In Treatment) and Michele Giordono (Nurse Jackie).

The Affair is a Showtime production and is exclusive in Australia to Foxtel.

Sunday, September 1 at 8.30pm on FOX Showcase.
