Returning: The Set

Dylan Alcott & Linda Marigliano to throw their music house party on ABC once more.

Great to hear ABC is returning The Set for a second season in August.

Logie winner Dylan Alcott and triple j’s Linda Marigliano will return for their house party, filmed before 250 music fans.

The series kicks off on Wednesday 28 August at 10pm (it will shift to a 9:30 slot from September 25) and run until October 9.

Dylan Alcott, said, “I am absolutely stoked for Season 2 of The Set and can’t wait to work on the show with my great friend Linda Marigliano! Everyone associated with this show is passionate about live music and entertainment on Australian television and wants to provide a platform to promote the very best current and emerging music talent.”

Linda Marigliano added, “Dylan and I couldn’t believe it when our TV parents said we could throw another house party, and not only that, we’re throwing a bunch! This show is a dream to work on, the mixture of charisma and chaos between artists and audience is pure gold. We cannot wait.”

Each episode features three of your fave bands who perform their original music in The Set’s purpose-built house and backyard. Then, at the end of the night, the three acts link up for ‘The Set Piece’: a special one-off musical collaboration that feels like a big group hug.

The Set’s first season aired in November 2018 during ABC’s Ausmusic Month and featured performances from artists like The Presets, Vera Blue, Baker Boy, Wafia, Ball Park Music and more. Now, The Set Season 2 carries on ABC’s live music tradition started by programs like Countdown and Recovery, but for a new generation of Australian music lovers. Stay tuned for this year’s line-up, info coming soon!

  1. I am nowhere near the age group for The Set, but I loved the first series. Great music in a fun atmosphere with interesting people. Glad to see ABC making more.

  2. It’s great to see live music performances back on the television again on The Set after a long hiatus from the format since shows like Recovery, 10:30 Slot, Studio 22 etc. The Set is more alternative music based. Something that is missing is a live performance platform for other mainstream genres like charting contemporary pop music. BBC has Radio1, which plays a lot of pop music, but ABC has no similar radio adaptation in Australia. BBC also had Top of The Pops too. ABC’s Rage does step up when it comes to inclusion of popular music.
