Seven & Nine tie on 11 weeks each

Ratings: The ratings battle reaches a crucial mid-point.

Having passed the halfway point of the TV year, Seven and Nine both have 11 weeks each under their belt.

Seven has edged ahead on Total People 29.8% to Nine’s 29.5%.

Meanwhile the gap between ABC and 10 is even tighter, with ABC on 16.6% and 10 at 16.5%.

Seven won last week but 10 was up thanks to MasterChef Australia. SBS also had a strong performance on Saturday thanks to Tour de France.

Seven won 16-39 but Nine won 25-54.

Seven led on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Nine scored Sunday, Monday & Tuesday. 10 bettered Nine on Wednesday. ABC and SBS defeated 10 on Saturday.

Once again Seven claimed Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth, while Nine won Sydney & Brisbane.

Best brands last week were:

Seven: Seven News (Sun: 1.11m), House Rules (Winner Ann: 827,000), Home & Away (621,000) and The Chase (597,000).

Nine: Nine News (Sun: 1.01m), Australian Ninja Warrior (Sun: 997,000), A Current Affair (721,000) and 60 Minutes (644,000).

10: MasterChef Australia (Winner Ann: 992,000), Australian Survivor (807,000), Have You Been Paying Attention? (668,000) and The Project (7pm: 475,000).

ABC: Anh’s Brush with Fame (721,000), Back Roads (642,000), Mad as Hell (616,000) and ABC News (607,000).

SBS: The Handmaid’s Tale (227,000), Insight (218,000), Tour de France (Stage 20: 205,000) and Inside Windsor Castle (190,000).

  1. Nine also have the Ashes in primetime and the NRL Finals will likely do well along with that GF as well and iy not just be Sydney and Brisbane watching (Melbourne Storm are top of the ladder 2 games clear)
    So Nine are sitting well, plus you have to remember for the AFL GF it is on in the afternoon so out of the 6pm primetime rating figures start (should be Midday weekends).

    That’s kind of where it’s a bit off even though it’s always been that way, as in if say The Chase was counted then Seven would be easily ahead now, should be 4pm start Mon-Fri, especially in this era when delivery of food is high. Those companies and Supermarkets should be prime targets to advertise just as people get home at around 5pm and think “What to do for dinner.”

  2. It’s going to be an interesting ‘run home’ to Christmas non-ratings and outcome of the ratings battle… Nine have new season of The Block to launch next Sunday which should provide a firm foundation for some of its weekday evenings… Seven have concluding then finals weeks of AFL then the GF.
