Airdate: EJ Whitten Legends Game 2019

Annual AFL charity match screens next week on Seven and 7mate.

Seven will screen the EJ Whitten Legends Game next week as the annual AFL charity match raises funds for men’s health awareness.

Brian Taylor and James Brayshaw will lead the call, with commentary from Tim Watson, and ‘Dipper’ and Gilbert McAdam on the boundary. Armchair Experts with Brownlow medalist Adam Cooney and AFL Superfan Cameron Luke will also offer their take on proceedings.

Wayne Carey will take the coaching reins for the All Stars with Sabrina Frederick in his corner as assistant coach, and Bernie Vince running messages.

Coaching Victoria is Dermott Brereton with Daisy Pearce assistant coaching and Sharni Layton on running duties.

A collection of AFL icons will return to the field including Cameron Ling, Brendan Fevola and Anthony Koutoufides for the ‘Big V’ and Matthew Richardson, Gavin Wanganeen and Mark Ricciuto for the All Stars, as they raise funds for the EJ Whitten Foundation supporting men’s health awareness.

With a gilt-edged midfield boasting Ricciuto, Jason Akermanis, Daniel Kerr, Andrew McLeod and Adam Cooney, the All Stars have the fire power to topple the Vics on their home turf.

But Victoria has master taggers Ling and Ryan Crowley to restrict that imposing on-ball unit, and a three-pronged attack of Fev, Jarrad Waite and Travis Cloke that will stretch the All Star’s defence.

  1. I have a question. Australian Rules football is played on an oval-shaped ground, but last time I checked, AAMI Park is rectangular. So how will the match work on a rectangular ground. Is it AFLX-based this year, because I feel that AAMI Park is not a suitable ground for the EJ Whitten Legends Game.

    1. Decided to change venue and to AFLX because Marvel Stadium was not available.
MCG being prepared for finals so couldn’t play on that surface either.
