Ballers ending with 5th season

Final season begins Monday night on FOX Showcase.

Actor Dwayne Johnson has confirmed the imminent 5th season of Ballers as its last.

On Instagram he said:

My heart ? is full of gratitude to all of you for rockin’ with us every season. You made us HBO’s highest rated comedy for years and most importantly, you helped create and sustain a platform for other actors to have the OPPORTUNITY to work hard, grow and become household names. To me, the opportunity Ballers created for so many others, is the real gold of our show. I love you, I thank you and enjoy our final season of BALLERS.

It screens in Australia Monday night on FOX Showcase.

  1. I enjoyed the first 2 seasons but the last 2 have been pretty ordinary. Between Carey Mahoney and the usual annoying character that Russell Brand plays in everything he is in, they were hard to watch. Will give series 5 a miss at this stage. Certainly not worth keeping Showcase for another 3 months for.

  2. When it comes to understanding the publicity machine of Hollywood you cant beat The Rock.
Dwayne’s a busy guy and a money making machine the fact that ‘Ballers’ was a success is due mostly to him and the rusted on devoted fan base that follow everything he does. I enjoyed Ballers first season but bailed out after season 2 the comedy freshness had passed, Ballers really should have been a limited season show, but as it is made mostly for those who understand the American sporting culture no surprises it was kept alive for 5 seasons.

    1. Except he kept saying he had “cool” news… being the end of series! I’m also not sure he can claim to have been one of first cinema stars to go as aeries lead, so a bit of Hollywood spin. But I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen of his stuff.
