Eddie, Sam, Bec back for Footy Show Grand Final.

AFL show is back for a final hurrah at Rod Laver Arena but with one change to its line-up.

Nine has confirmed details of its Grand Final Footy Show special at Rod Laver Arena for late September, to be hosted by Eddie McGuire, Sam Newman, and Rebecca Maddern.

Also featuring are Shane Crawford, Billy Brownless, Brendan Fevola, and Doug Hawkins.

But there is no mention of Trevor Marmalade whom Nine had announced as reuniting with McGuire and Newman in a June release. This morning on MMM McGuire said, “Trevor may not be on the show….he’s considering…. we’re leaving the door open for Trev, if he doesn’t feel like he doesn’t want to do it then there’s no problem whatsoever.”

The special has been touted as a tribute to the past 25 and a half years of the Nine show, but sources suggest there is also the possibility of restaging as an annual event. Garry Lyon, James Brayshaw and Craig Hutchison will not appear but ‘Lehmo’ is understood to be appearing.

The event on September 25 -a first time Wednesday finale- will avoid a clash with Seven’s Front Bar.

Birds of Tokyo and James Reyne will both perform.

The Player Revue is back but with a twist as players from local football clubs who have auditioned for a chance to appear in the annual show-stopper alongside the AFL stars in a “Born to Dance” competition judged by Shane Crawford and Sam Newman.

Tickets are now on sale.

Why would ‘we’ want to watch more of him? He’s already proven he says the wrong thing too many times and is borderline offensive and racist at times too, lets not reward him further!
