Filming underway on new UK seasons of Killing Eve, Endeavour.

New faces and a new showrunner for UK thriller.

UK thriller Killing Eve has begun production on its third series.

Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, both nominated for Emmy Awards, return while Dame Harriet Walter (Succession, The Crown) and Danny Sapani (Harlots, The Crown) join the cast.

British writer Suzanne Heathcote (Fear The Walking Dead) will come on board to serve as lead writer and executive producer, continuing the tradition of passing the baton to a new female writing voice.

Meanwhile ITV detective drama, Endeavour, is now filming its seventh season, consisting of three, feature-length films. Each will again be written by Russell Lewis who has penned all 27 Endeavour screenplays to date.

Shaun Evans reprises his role as DS Endeavour Morse, alongside Roger Allam as DCI Fred Thursday.

Writer Russell Lewis said, “The prospect of Colin Dexter’s immortal creation entering a new decade is hugely exciting for all of #TeamEndeavour. We’re always looking to break new ground, and go places we haven’t been before – both physically and emotionally. The narrative design of this series gives us the opportunity to deliver a particularly distinctive story shape. Though each film can be enjoyed as a standalone – we have approached Endeavour 1970 as three panels of a triptych, or – in musical terms – a grand opera that unfolds across three acts. Whether it wears the mask of comedy or tragedy remains to be seen…”

An eighth season has also been confirmed.

Corrected.

  1. Wonder what impact the recent death of (Australian) composer Barrington Pheloung will have on production of Endeavour. Having provided all(?) of the original music for the Morse universe, this is significant loss.

Those Colin Dexter shout-outs…they’re in *every* episode (as he has also passed on). Keep an eagle eye out!

  2. Season 7 of Endeavour hasn’t aired yet and Season 8 is scheduled for 2021 on ITV. Looks like they filmed a shortened S8 on the back of S7, while the cast were available. Which would imply that Evans has other stuff lined up.

    1. Pertinax, slight typo here from chief David. Table reads of S7 began a couple of weeks ago, as evidenced here: pic.twitter.com/NHFdt8sCzz

Also, I seem to remember there’s a codicil to Colin Dexter’s will that once Endeavour finishes there will be no more Morse. Something like Shaun Evans can stay in the role as long as he likes (and let’s be honest, filming 4/6 90′ episodes a year, that could be some time yet) but he will be the last actor to play Morse.

Loved the little shout-out they gave Colin Dexter in the recent series too. Was a simple flyer on a notice board along the lines of “DI Dexter’s retirement party. He’ll be missed by all”
