Jane Doyle marks 30 years at Seven News Adelaide

Tomorrow Jane Doyle reaches a milestone in Adelaide, which comes on top of an unbeaten winning streak that stretches back to 2006.

Tomorrow Adelaide presenter Jane Doyle, will mark 30 years at the Seven News desk.

Doyle joined Seven News in 1989, reading her first bulletin on August 28, 1989.

Seven News Adelaide News Director, Chris Salter, said: “Not a day goes by when Jane doesn’t bring her A game, her professionalism is second to none.

“Jane is far more than newsreader, she’s the matriarch of the newsroom – a friend and mentor to so many.

“To be welcomed into the homes of South Australians for three decades is an incredible achievement. At a time when news comes from more sources than ever, Jane and John bring experience, trust and credibility. It’s why more people are switching to 7NEWS.”

Jane Doyle started her career nearly 40 years ago with a cadetship at a newspaper in northern Queensland in 1980.

In 1981 she moved to South Australia where she worked for The Recorder newspaper in Port Pirie and ABC Radio station 5CK as a casual announcer, moving to Adelaide in until 1983. Other roles have included TV Week’s Adelaide Bureau Chief and ABC Adelaide.

Doyle’s on-air partnership with John Riddell began in July 2005.

In March they clocked up a stunning 500 successive weeks at No. 1 in survey – which stems back to 2006 unbeaten- the longest running victory on record of any news bulletin in Adelaide.

  1. Congratulations to Jane, always a pleasure to watch and seems to really love her job. Hope she can continue on for another decade if she chooses to do so.

  2. By all accounts a really lovely person. Very genuine about her love for the arts – I see her frequently at theatre and music performances.

And also someone to use her public profile for the public good.
