Shane Jacobson settles dispute with ex-manager

Updated: Dispute over fees is settled out of court between actor & former manager.

Actor and presenter Shane Jacobson yesterday settled a dispute with former manager and publicist Deb Fryers, averting a court battle at the 11th hour.

Showbiz commentator Peter Ford yesterday revealed the two parties would avoid a court battle, which would make full details of their business affairs public.

Fryers was suing Jacobson for monies she claimed were owed from bookings she organised prior to a split between them.

The Age reports Jacobson earned just over $900,000 from various gigs in 2018 and 2019, according to court documents, including $27,000 for appearing in Seven’s The Real Full Monty and $180,000 as the narrator in The Rocky Horror Show.

Ms Fryers sought a 15 to 20 per cent cut on Jacobson’s various fees, arguing her total commission should amount to $136,892.

Yesterday, Ms Fryers and her lawyers confirmed the matter had settled out of court.

“The matter has been resolved by the parties and I have no further comment,” she said.

Updated: In a statement, Shane Jacobson said, “It has been difficult to read all the negative and untruthful things that have been said over the last 12 months in the media. It’s now a matter of public record that the case against me has been dismissed with no Order as to costs. We are so relieved that we can finally leave this all behind us.”

  1. “the case against me has been dismissed with no Order as to costs.” So it did go to court?
or “Yesterday, Ms Fryers and her lawyers confirmed the matter had settled out of court”. So it didn’t go to court?
or “Shane Jacobson, has withdrawn court proceedings against his ex-manager hours before the first hearing.” (3AW)? (Normally, such out of court settlements contain an agreement between parties regarding costs.)
Feel that Updated Statement belies what happened, a bit.
