The 100 confirms final season

US sci-fi will conclude with its upcoming seventh season.

US sci-fi The 100 will conclude with its upcoming seventh season.

“With #The100 Season 6 finale just days away, I have some bittersweet news to share: Season 7 will be our last,” creator Jason Rothenberg tweeted. “We are eternally grateful to WB & CW for always allowing us to tell our story the way we want to & to wrap the show on our terms. What an incredible ride this has been!”

The 100 stars Aussies Eliza Taylor, Bob Morley, plus Paige Turco, Marie Avgeropoulos, Lindsey Morgan, Richard Harmon, Shannon Kook, JR Bourne and Tasya Teles.

The series drew a big audience response in 2016 after the death of LGBT character Lexa played by Aussie Alycia Debnam-Carey, with writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach telling TV Tonight, the backlash had been a real eye-opener.

It airs in Australia on FOX8.

  1. The 100 was released after the demise of similar sci-fi shows like ‘Revolution’ and ‘Falling Skies’, so in some ways The 100 defied the programming changes at the time. As it progressed The 100 looked ready made for syndication so the extended serial was likely planned from the start, unfortunately like so many long running shows the limited plot had to be revised as it went along, finding convenient story twists to keep fan interest strong. Season 6 is almost a completely new show with a link to the past to keep fans happy, I suspect the shows producers would have continued The 100 given the opportunity.

  2. The series finale will fall on 100th episode. Yes! How good is that?! Although, the quality of season fifth and sixth weren’t as good as the first four seasons.

  3. I love the 100… Not that it’s quality has dipped too much, I still think they have a few more years of story to tell, but there are signs of an ageing show this season. I’m glad the showrunner is ending it on his terms. So I’m keen to see the wrap up.
Hopefully they score a final season order of 16 episodes which would take the series to 100 for the final episode… it just makes apt sense doesn’t it?

Plus, I didn’t realise Eliza Taylor and Bob Morley are married in real life. Fun fact!
