The Block, Ashes makes Nine unbeatable on Sunday.

Ratings: A huge share for 9GEM helps Nine to a big win. Australia's Got Talent holds up strong for Seven.

The combination of The Block and Ashes Series proved unbeatable for the Nine network last night, amassing a huge 39.2% share.

The Block was #1 at 1.12m for Nine and topped the demos.  Australia’s Got Talent hit a season high at 865,000 for Seven followed by Australian Survivor (650,000 from 7:30pm) and an Attenborough replay on ABC at 389,000 from 7:40pm.

The Ashes drew up to 542,000 viewers on 9GEM where an 11% share proved higher than 10 and ABC primary channels and all of SBS.

Nine network won Sunday with 39.2% then Seven 27.6%, 10 15.6%, ABC 12.0% and SBS 5.6%.

Nine News drew 1.03m viewers then 60 Minutes (651,000) and Psychopaths with Piers Morgan (347,000).

Seven News won its slot at 1.09m for Seven. Sunday Night was 616,000 then What the Killer Did Next (247,000).

The Sunday Project drew 380,000 / 237,000 for 10 then 10 News First (254,000), Instinct (239,000) and Bondi Rescue (126,000).

ABC News (630,000), Les Norton (389,000) and Compass (218,000) comprised ABC’s other shows. Secrets of Silicon Valley was just 123,000.

On SBS it was Who Do You Think You Are? (146,000), SBS World News (129,000) and Free Solo (93,000).

  1. Impressive figures for 9GEM being a multichannel. I think it shows that networks don’t need to rely on the main channels being the focus for programming that can attract high ratings.
