Behold...

Behold…

Netflix has now released the full trailer for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, based on Jim Henson’s 1982 classic film.

Featuring the voices of Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy and Nathalie Emmanuel, this premieres on Friday August 30.

Based on The Dark Crystal, Jim Henson’s ground-breaking 1982 feature film, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance tells a new story, set many years before the events of the movie, and realized using classic puppetry with cutting edge visual effects. The world of Thra is dying. The Crystal of Truth is at the heart of Thra, a source of untold power. But it is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and a sickness spreads across the land. When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit and an epic battle for the planet begins.

  1. Liz, if it’s any help the DVD release got an amended classification early last year as:

PG; mild fantasy themes, violence, some scenes may scare young children (mild/very mild impact)

      1. The film was rated G and had no consumer advice. The original DVD release (2004) was still rated G, but contained “some fantasy scenes may frighten young children”. ~5yo me in 1986/87 was terrified of that scene where they get stuck on the ledge (in particular).

That said, I’m honestly looking forward to the series.

      1. Thank you David. I realised after I posted that the trailer said ‘Netflix Original Series’. Given it is Jim Henson I was opening G or PG? Anyway will have to watch without kids initially I am guessing ?
