7:30 to screen David Attenborough interview

“You are the keepers of an extraordinary section of the surface of this planet... and what you say, what you do, really, really matters."

ABC’s 7:30 tonight will screen an interview by triple J’s Tom Tilley in which naturalist Sir David Attenborough takes at recent Australian climate policy.

He expressed concerns that previous Australian governments had been “saying all the right things” on climate policy but this had changed.

“You are the keepers of an extraordinary section of the surface of this planet, including the Barrier Reef, and what you say, what you do, really, really matters,” Attenborough said.

“And when you’ve been upstanding and talking about what I see as the truth and and you suddenly say, ‘No it doesn’t matter … it doesn’t matter how much coal we burn … we don’t give a damn what it does to the rest of the world.”

7:30pm tonight on ABC.

  1. Of course we are the keepers of the Great Barrier Reef but the ruddy thing sits in the ocean. Just a moment while I place a call to the White House and ask Mr Trump if he can spare some dollars to build a wall around it.

  2. Saw the trailer for this last night. We are an easy target for Sir DA (who I admire for his brilliant work) but would he dare lecture China for being the worlds largest polluter?

    1. He has, in a way that one does when Chinese involved. “Theresa May will be dropping a not-so-subtle hint that China needs to be more environmentally friendly during her visit. The prime minister plans to present Chinese President Xi Jinping with a box-set of the BBC’s blockbuster documentary series Blue Planet II. The DVD will come with a personal message from the show’s presenter Sir David Attenborough”. (BBC News Feb 2018)
