A second Game of Thrones prequel?

Another of the 5 GoT spin-offs looks like it will proceed to Pilot.

Game of Thrones looks poised to be getting another prequel, in Pilot form anyway, this time set around  companion book “Fire & Blood” exploring the beginning of the end for House Targaryen 300 years before GoT.

The book tells stories of previous Targaryen kings, like Aegon the Conqueror, the first ruler of Westeros, and Aegon the Dragonbane, all of whom are ancestors of Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow.

The project is created by Gorge R.R. Martin and Colony co-creator Ryan Condal.

The sole confirmed pilot, with the working title of Bloodmoon, features Naomi Watts, Josh Whitehouse, Toby Regbo, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Alex Sharp, Miranda Richardson, Marquis Rodriguez, John Simm, Richard McCabe, John Heffernan, and Dixie Egerickx. It is currently in post-production.

There were originally 5 GoT spin-offs in development.

HBO declined to comment.

  1. I think the critical reaction to the heavily hyped GoT finale took a bit of wind out of the GoT franchise sails, the makers plans for broadening the story arc by making a series of prequels examining the mystical and historical past of the shows protagonists was done a disfavor by the hasty conclusion to what was in the beginning a quite complex tale. The living soul of the original story was removed for what seems like commercial opportunism, whether these prequels reinvigorate another period of GoT universe mania we shall have to wait and see.

    1. Wonderfully said! I agree with you completely. My interest in anything GoT related has completely dissipated. I haven’t done any research or looked into anything since that final season, my interest has forever been tarnished… it really got me offside those last few episodes in particular.
