Airdate: Inside the G

Updated: Olympics, Bradman & AFL all documented in a special around a great sporting stadium.

Documentary special Inside the G, which looks at the history and operations of the MCG, will screen next week on Seven.

The special from CJZ screens at different times in various states, following The Front Bar.

At every MCG blockbuster there is just as much action off the field as there is on it, and in a revealing new documentary Seven takes fans behind the scenes like never before at the home of football.

Inside the ’G is set against the backdrop of two of the biggest home and away games on the AFL calendar: this year’s Anzac Day Eve match between Richmond and Melbourne, and the iconic Anzac Day Essendon-Collingwood clash that has captivated fans since 1995.

Narrated by commentary legend Dennis Cometti, Inside the ’G closely tracks Melbourne co-captain Jack Viney as the Demons suffer a tough 43-point loss. The following day it takes fans inside the umpires’ inner sanctum as Collingwood hangs on for a nail-biting win that leaves Bombers supporters lamenting several controversial decisions.

Viewers also get rare insights into the significant challenges emergency services, stadium management, paramedics and security staff encounter when more than 90,000 people are crammed inside a venue on match day – the players aren’t the only ones who rise to the occasion at the ’G.
