Airdate: Jerry Springer the Opera

David Soul stars as tabloid TV host in this West End musical to screen on SBS VICELAND.

West End musical Jerry Springer the Opera, inspired by the tabloid talk show, has as screening next week at SBS VICELAND.

This is fairly old given the show ran from 2003 – 2006, and has played out on Pay TV before, but it does star David Soul as Springer.

VICELAND is airing it a week after The Rise Of Trash TV which is on tomorrow night.

Filmed in the West End’s Cambridge Theatre, it stars David Soul (Starsky & Hutch) as Jerry Springer, America’s favourite talk show host who suffers the worst day in his career when faced with trailer trash, transsexuals, nappy wearers, and a tap-dancing troupe of Ku Klux Klansmen.

As well as receiving critical acclaim from theatre critics, the public and the theatre industry, Jerry Springer: The Opera has also attracted celebrities from around the world – Sir Michael Caine, Simon Cowell, Sheryl Crow, Michael Douglas, Kelsey Grammer, Harvey Keitel, Sir Ian McKellan, Helen Mirren, Pink, Rachel Stevens, Meg Ryan, Sigourney Weaver, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Jerry Springer: The Opera, which began as a series of public ‘Scratch Night’ workshops in 2001, is now an established commercial West End hit.

9:25pm Tuesday October 8th on SBS VICELAND.
