All the drama of ratings week

Ratings: ABC comedies are now leading in the scripted stakes. Another week to Nine.

Utopia is now the biggest scripted title on the air, last week averaging 683,000 viewers.

The Working Dog comedy is also massive in Timeshifted audiences, recently pulling another 277,000 viewers in the 7 days after broadcast.

Mad as Hell followed at 681,000 then Home & Away (598,000), Seachange (546,000), My Life is Murder (392,000), Les Norton (353,000), Sammy J (303,000), Diary of an Uber Driver (302,000), Glitch (142,000) and Neighbours (112,000).

Nine had another winning week, but was down on the preceding week, as was Seven. 10 lifted thanks to season highs for Gogglebox, Have You Been Paying Attention? and Australian Survivor -its biggest episode ever. But Saturday Night Rove tanked at just 138,000 viewers, way down on its debut of 244,000.

Nine scored the demos 16-39 and 25-54.

Seven won Wednesday – Saturday. Nine scored Sunday – Tuesday. 10 beat Nine on Thursday. ABC bettered 10 on Friday & Saturday.

Nine won Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane. Seven led in Adelaide and Perth.

Best brands last week were:

Nine: The Block (Sun: 1.09m), Nine News (Sun: 1.01m), A Current Affair (745,000) and Ashes Series (697,000).

Seven: Seven News (Sun: 1.1m), Australia’s Got Talent (731,000), Home and Away (598,000) and The Celebrity Chase (560,000).

10: Australian Survivor (Mon: 819,000), Gogglebox (802,000), Have You Been Paying Attention? (788,000) and The Bachelor (Wed: 749,000).

ABC: Utopia (638,000), Mad as Hell (681,000), ABC News (624,000) and Hard Quiz (615,000).

SBS: London: 2000 Years of History (233,000), Royals at War (220,000), Tony Robinson’s Coast to Coast (215,000) and Insight (215,000).

  1. I’m not surprised that the ABC does so well in timeshifting .. along with SBS, iView is the easiest to navigate, and they load their programs a lot earlier. Try and find something on 7, you have to wade through all the ancient repeats of ancient shows first. I always know if I miss something on the ABC or SBS, it’s so quick and easy to find and watch.

      1. No. Timeshifting is purely watching something on your PVR in the 7 (or 28) days after broadcast at normal speed with ads. Catch ups such as iview and live streaming through an app is a separate figure.

  2. So Nine wins yet another week. Will be an interesting week ahead with AFL finals on Seven (but not much else) and Nine with the 4th Ashes Test Match. Could be tight.

  3. I am liking Seachange but my favourite is Les Norton. Loving all the 80s references & the casting – except for Rebel Wilson who can’t act & is woefully miscast.
