Australian Survivor finale beats The Block

Ratings: A rare change in fortunes between reality juggernauts last night as 10 wraps a strong season.

The finale of Australian Survivor last night beat The Block.

The show drew 923,000 for the bulk of its broadcast, rising to 1.04m for the moment Pia Miranda was declared winner. That bettered 2018’s finale of 922,000 / 667,000 when Shane Gould won.

The Block was still strong but defeated at 857,000.

Left to battle it out were 7:30 (529,000), Border Security (458,000), The Force (449,000) and Foreign Correspondent (389,0000.

Reality finales notwithstanding Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds pulled 546,000 beating out Seachange on 494,000.

10 managed to better Seven in primary channel but Nine network still won Tuesday with 28.3% then Seven 24.9%, 10 22.6%, ABC 17.0% and SBS 7.2%.

Nine News (953,000 / 914,000) was best for Nine. A Current Affair (791,000) and Hot Seat (507,000 / 321,000) followed. 20 to One was 198,000.

Seven News was #1 at 1.05m / 1.05m for Seven then Home and Away (633,000), The Chase (614,000 / 386,000). The Proposal was 185,000 at 9:30pm. Inside the G was 164,000 in 3 cities and Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly was 161,000 in 2 cities.

The Project (530,000 / 296,000) 10 News First (371,000), NCIS (262,000), Celebrity Name Game (210,000).

ABC News (658,000), Storm in a Teacup (325,000) and The Drum (183,000) comprised ABC’s other shows.

On SBS it was Britain’s Most Historic Towns (216,000), Insight (194,000), SBS World News (137,000), Dateline (116,000) and Mastermind (83,000).

Peppa Pig led multichannels at 191,000.

  1. Old People’s home and Seachange are earmarked for timeshifting. Also, Seachange is encored during the week so no need to watch it. The Survivor Finale is like a sport Grand Final, it has to be watched in real time.

  2. I loved the series and I would expect another season has already been planned. Ten should see the momentum continue with the Masked Singer. Having thought about it further most of Tens reality shows involve celebs even MC.

    1. Are they looking for the same demographic to follow on to the singing show? Not sure that all Survivor fans will go there, especially as a new US Survivor season is about to start.

  3. Great result 10 must be very happy.

    Should be interesting to see how all stars is taken by audiences.

    I wonder if next season they be after Mafs and paired with BIP (or move BIP).
