  1. David, I thought 7 had bought the rights for all the cricket and 9 grabbed the tennis?
Can’t understand why 9 has managed to pull the rug out from under their opposition.

    1. Nine also have the rights to the Men’s and Women’s T20 World Cups held in Australia from October 18th -15th November 2020.

Basically World Cup televised games are decided by the ICC, The Ashes the ECB and so-forth for each country with Cricket Australia here (who Seven won the bid off). Exceptions are like how the Indian Premier League is now with Star India (Disney owned) and they then on-sell to other countries as they bought the global broadcast rights for the league.

      1. Women’s T20 World Cup will be broadcast on Nine in Feb/Mar next year on Nine. Men’s T20 World Cup will be broadcast on Nine in Oct/Nov next year on Nine.

      2. N.B: The Ashes when they are in England, when the 2021/22 Ashes are in Australia that is a CA one and Seven will have those due to their agreement going until 2024.

    2. Fox Sports has the rights to all CA cricket games. Seven has the right to simulcast the domestic tests and most, but not all, BBL games.

Nine out maneuvered everyone. Seven who had the Tennis ridiculously cheap (a matter ASIC is currently prosecuting) didn’t believe Nine would out bid them. Nine strung CA and Ten along with a decoy bid that fooled everyone. Nine spends less, gets a fortnight of top ratings at a good time and doesn’t have to foot the bill for production as TA does the production for global sale already. That leaves Nine with money to buy other stuff, like the English Ashes games.

  2. So is it a good sign that Grand Hotel is doubles already? I’m wondering if it is worth recording, even though there are only 13 eps (haven’t started watching)?

    1. It’s Devious Maids, but not as well done and set in a luxury hotel. The first ep is predictable trashy entertainment. I’m spooling the rest to my DVR in case there is nothing on over summer.
