Female-led Arrow spin-off in the works

An Arrow spinoff is in development to focus on the crime-fighting team The Canaries.

According to reports, the project will star Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, and Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake. An upcoming final season episode of Arrow will serve as a “backdoor pilot” for the potential series from Greg Berlanti Productions.

The Canaries are a vigilante group operating in a future version of Star City in which the city was overrun by an uprising by the denizens of the city section known as The Glades.

The upcoming eighth season of Arrow is the show’s last and premieres on FOX8  at 8:30pm Wednesday October 16.
