New drama One Lane Bridge filming in NZ for Seven

Six part drama filming in Queenstown centres around a detective who can see dead people.

Filming is underway in Queenstown, New Zealand, on crime drama One Lane Bridge for TVNZ and the Seven Network.

Produced by Great Southern Television (Hillary, Agent Anna, Coast Australia) the six-part series stars Dominic Ona-Ariki as a Cook Island Maori detective who can see dead people. Following a murder investigation at Queenstown’s One Lane Bridge, the detective’s spiritual gift is reawakened, endangering the case, his career and life.

The cast includes Sara Wiseman (A Place to Call Home), Peter McCauley (The Brokenwood Mysteries), Ryan O’Kane (Shortland Street) and Dean O’Gorman, Jared Turner, Michelle Langstone and Alison Bruce who all worked on The Almighty Johnsons.

Co-creator and Great Southern CEO Philip Smith said, “Often Queenstown gets used as a canvas and then people paint other stories over it and then don’t represent the region and what the region’s about.”

The series is co-written by Pip Hall (The Brokenwood Mysteries, 800 Words, Jonah, Shortland Street) daughter of playwright Roger Hall.
