New kids series filming in Newcastle

Ambience Entertainment has been filming a new children’s series, I Am Me for 9GO!

The cast is made up entirely of Hunter Region children, who explore the world around them while being guided by the show’s host, a puppet named Dash the Dragon.

Filming has been facilitated by Newcastle production company Good Eye Deer across various Hunter locations including Blackbutt Nature Reserve, Newcastle Museum, and the Hunter Wetlands Centre at Shortland.

Over the course of filming, the children participated in various activities such as arts and craft, imaginative play, and interactions with local birds and animals.

Producer Kylie Mascord said, “In Newcastle, the kids don’t have much access to being on stuff like this … so they’re all a lot more fresh and enthusiastic.

“The fact we could get a crew here rather than having to bring one from Sydney was also really good.

“If we were in Sydney and we wanted to do this many types of locations, our travel would have been so much further for our crew, we’d have been travelling an hour to get to a wildlife park.”

It will air on 9GO! next year.
