A new series of Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery will begin on ABC in early October.
This season will feature Costa Georgiadis, Shane Gould, Adam Liaw, Judith Lucy, Ian Chappell amongst others.
Last night at a CJZ Masterclass presented by the AACTA Awards, Head of Comedy & Entertainment Damian Davis recalled that the show emerged after Cordell Jigsaw acquired Zapruder’s Other Films from Andrew Denton.
“We discovered that Andrew, Polly (Connolly) and Jon (Casimir) were trying to get a show up with Julia, as we were. What came from that was we did a little Pilot based around an interview show in a restaurant. At the time ABC had Adam Hills in Gordon Street Tonight. They came back to us and said we really love Julia, we’d love to work with you guys, have you got something which is more field-basis?
Home Delivery began as 5 episodes and has just finished its 70th.
“The idea is so simple and the execution makes it look so simple when in fact there’s a lot of stuff happening there, which I think is part of its success.
8pm Wednesday October 9 on ABC.

Julia’s Home Delivery episode featuring Cate McGregor changed a friend of Mines opinion of Cate in a very positive way. He had previously disliked Cate because of a perception she was elitist and self entitled, but after watching her ep of Home Delivery he was left with absolute respect and admiration for her, which pleased me because I had always admired her bravery and determination, and hated the underserved negativity towards her. Just thought I’d share that example of how profoundly positive these types of shows can be ?
Oh good. I’ve been wondering if she would do more of these, she’s been doing a lot of other things lately.
Me too…love it!
My favourite interview style show. Julia has a knack of getting her guests to open up. I’ll be setting the VHS recorder for this one ?
VHS recorder? Haven’t heard of these for years.
I am still using Betamax. It’s coming back into fashion :P
