Returning: The Great Australian Bake Off

Maggie Beer & Matt Moran to judge next batch of amateur bakers in October.

The long-awaited fifth season of The Great Australian Bake Off, premieres on Foxtel in early October.

12 of the country’s best amateur bakers will be judged by Maggie Beer and Matt Moran.

The 10 part series by Fremantle is again hosted by comedians Claire Hooper and Mel Buttle in the Bake Off Shed.

The bakers vying for this season’s title are: Angela (36), a housewife from Adelaide; Annette (48) an account manager from the Gold Coast; Anston (28) a student voice officer from Sydney; Dan (35) a research scientist from Brisbane; David (41) a project manager from Melbourne; Dennis (71) a retired maths teacher from Melbourne; Don (55) a superannuation consultant from Sydney; Laura (22) a café manager from regional NSW; Sonny (26) a PHD science student from Sydney; Sue (70) a retired bank manager from Sydney; Wynn (36) a disability services manager from Sydney; and Zee (39) a marriage celebrant from Melbourne.

The Bake Off franchise began in 2010 with The Great British Bake Off, where it became a ratings phenomenon. The format has since been produced locally in the US, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Poland, Ireland, Norway, Finland, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Turkey, Ukraine and France, as well as previously in Australia for the Nine Network in 2013.

This is Foxtel’s fourth season of The Great Australian Bake Off.
