Action thriller, Treadstone, from producers of the “Bourne” franchise, will be coming to Amazon Prime Video in January 2020.

The series explores the origin story and present-day actions of Operation Treadstone, an infamous, covert CIA Black Ops program that uses behaviour modification to turn recruits into nearly superhuman assassins.

Season one of the series will follow sleeper agents across the globe as they’re mysteriously “awakened” to resume their deadly missions. Prime Video unveiled the first teaser for the series today, which sets the stage for the international thriller.

“The ‘Bourne’ films are popular with our customers around the world and it’s exciting to see the franchise move to television with Treadstone,” said Brad Beale, Vice President of World Wide Content Licensing for Prime Video. “Prime members love shows with action and intrigue like Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and our latest anti-super hero hit The Boys and we know that Treadstone will be another great addition to Prime Video in 2020.”

Produced by UCP, Treadstone is developed by and executive produced by Tim Kring (“Heroes”). Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner (“Bourne” franchise) executive produce. The series stars Jeremy Irvine, Tracy Ifeachor, Omar Metwally, Brian J. Smith, Hyo Joo Han, Gabrielle Scharnitzky, Emilia Schüle and Michelle Forbes.

  1. I liked the first two Bourne movies, they began a new form of stylized graphic violence that has been copied ever since. The Treadstone saga lost it’s lustre in the final movies even with the return of Matt Damon in the title role so this made for TV spin-off needs to go back to the basics that made the first Bourne films popular. The trailer looks promising but the original simple lone wolf story of a hunted and psychologically damaged Jason Bourne could become overcrowded by converging themes and competing sociopath characters which were mostly hidden away in the movies.
