Lavish UK-produced colonial drama Beecham House has been axed by ITV, before having its Australian debut.
The six-parter was from Gurinder Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham) and starred Tom Bateman (Vanity Fair) as a handsome former soldier who purchases the Beecham House mansion to begin a new life with his family in 19th Century Delhi. It screened in the UK in June.
Aussie Pallavi Sharda (Pulse, Strike Back, Lion) is also amongst the cast.
The series has been due to screen in Australia on 10, which screened it amongst a showreel to advertisers in mid 2018.
10 could still opt to screen it in summer or elsewhere, now as a single season.

Well, I did make the observation that it was savaged in its first review in the UK.

Between that, and its failure to win an audience, the axing ought surprise nobody.
Didn’t mind this.. The script a bit weak, but photography and locations were stunning.
