Marvel action series Cloak and Dagger is ending after two seasons.

US cable network Freeform confirmed the cancellation, five months after the second season ended in the US.

The show focuses on a teenage couple with light-based superpowers and screens in Australia on FOX8.

“We are so proud of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger and the trailblazing stories this series told. We are also grateful to our incredible talent Oliva Holt and Aubrey Joseph for bringing these beloved characters to life, and showrunner Joe Pokaski for his vision,” a Freeform spokesperson said.

“We’d like to thank our partners at Marvel Television for a wonderful two seasons and we are hopeful that we can find another project together.”

  1. Cloak & Dagger was made by Marvel and ABS and aired on Disney’s young adult cable channel. It’s cancellation has nothing to do with Marvel’s deal with Disney; Disney removing all its content from Netflix in preparation for the launch of Disney+ and Netflix deciding not to renew any of their Marvel shows.

C&D’s problem that it was very slow moving and the 2nd season didn’t really go anywhere.

  2. Considering Marvel closed the door on Netflix’s Marvel characters this cancellation probably shouldn’t be a surprise.
Cloak and Dagger is yet another version of Marvels common metahuman theme, it was also a show that had plenty of other better alternative marvel characters to make comparisons with, which no doubt didn’t help its chances.
