Rumours are afoot internationally French-based giant Banijay may buy out Endemol Shine Group.
UK newspapers The Daily Telegraph and Financial Times tip a deal is expected in the coming days.
ESG is owned by Disney and US private equity firm Apollo Global Management. In June last year, ESG hired two banks to investigate a possible sale, estimated to be worth about US$2.5b.
But neither All3Media, ITV, FremantleMedia, US telco Liberty and Hollywood talent agency Endeavour did not proceed.
Now Banijay looks set to close a deal for about US$2.3b, which would mak it the biggest independent producer in the world, giving it properties such as Peaky Blinders and Big Brother.
Endemol Shine Australia, helmed by brothers Mark & Carl Fennessy, produce some of the biggest shows in the country including MasterChef, Australian Ninja Warrior, Married at First Sight, Gogglebox, Australian Survivor.
Banijay-owned Screentime, led by executive Chairman Bob Campbell, produces Anh’s Brush with Fame, Playing for Keeps, Trial By Kyle, Underbelly, Wolf Creek, Pine Gap, Wife Swap, Hughesy We Have a Problem and RBT.

For historical purposes, would you include shows under ESG such as Blue Heelers, Deal or No Deal, City Homicide, Rush, etc?
